Recipe FAQs

How do you achieve the perfect candy coating without burning the sugar?

Heat the sugar and water gently until dissolved and clear, avoiding boiling to prevent burning. This creates a smooth syrup that coats the cranberries evenly.

What is the best way to dry candied cranberries?

Place coated cranberries on a wire rack over a baking sheet to air dry for about 45-60 minutes until sticky but not wet, then roll in sugar and dry another 15 minutes for a sparkly finish.

Can superfine sugar be substituted for granulated sugar in the coating?

Yes, superfine sugar is preferred for a delicate, sparkly coating but granulated sugar can be used if superfine is unavailable, though the texture may be slightly coarser.

How can I add flavor variations to the candied cranberries?

Try infusing the syrup with citrus zest, cinnamon sticks, or vanilla bean during heating to impart subtle aromatic notes to the cranberries.

How long do candied cranberries keep fresh?

Store them in an airtight container for up to two days to maintain their texture and sweetness before using.
