# Recipe Steps:
01 - Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and allow it to rest at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours before cooking.
02 - Set the oven temperature to 450°F (230°C) to prepare for initial roasting.
03 - In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme, parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, and lemon zest until evenly blended.
04 - Pat the prime rib dry using paper towels. Coat the entire surface with olive oil.
05 - Generously spread the herb garlic butter mixture over all sides of the prime rib, ensuring even coverage.
06 - Place the prime rib bone-side down on a rack within a large roasting pan.
07 - Roast in the preheated oven at 450°F (230°C) for 20 minutes to develop a crust.
08 - Lower oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting for 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, approximately 15 minutes per pound, until a meat thermometer inserted in the thickest part registers 125°F (52°C) for medium-rare.
09 - Remove the roast from the oven, tent loosely with foil, and allow it to rest for 20 to 30 minutes before carving.
